About PCM

Welcome to PCM 2014, the 15th Annual Pacific-Rim Conference on Multimedia, to be held in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia from Dec 1-4, 2014. The Pacific-Rim Conference on Multimedia (PCM) is a major annual international conference organized as a forum for the dissemination of state-of-the-art technological advances and research results in the fields of theoretical, experimental, and applied multimedia analysis and processing. The technical program will feature keynote addresses, tutorials, special sessions, and technical presentations of refereed papers. The conference calls for high quality submissions reporting original investigation results and demonstrations in the following topics of interest (but are not limited to); multimedia analysis and retrieval, multimedia security, multimedia compression, multimedia networking as well as multimedia systems, applications and services.

In addition, the International Workshop on Multimedia Big Data Analytics (MBDA 2014) will be held in in conjunction with PCM 2014. This workshop aims to bring together researchers and industrial practitioners interested in multimedia big data analytics. The workshop will provide a venue for the participants to discuss key research issues on multimedia big data. It will collect and seek the recent important research works in this area, summarize the available resources, and exploit potential challenges and possible advanced solutions in terms of theory and practice.

Sarawak, also know as the “Land of the Hornbills” offers an unforgettable mix of culture- and nature-based travel experiences. Tourists can indulge themselves in a wide range of attractions including enjoying the charms of historic Kuching, a beautiful waterfront city; exploring the massive cave systems of Mulu National Park; jungle trekking and wildlife watching at Bako National Park; travelling upriver to visit the Iban and experience longhouse life; and diving in Miri-Sibuti Coral Reef National Park.

We hope that a thoughtfully designed and interesting mix of technical program, together with the charms of Sarawak, will make PCM 2014 a memorable and enriching experience.
